General
-The KAL700 Series modules include a complete range of interfaces developed for I/O control on KSA700/FP1500 addressable fire systems from GE Security, installed in easy to install, IP55 housings. These modules allow the fire system to perform additional building management functions during fire situations. 125 I/O addresses are available on every fire panel loop in addition to 125 fire detector addresses.
KAL700 Conventional Zone Monitors
-The KAL710 allows for the connection of one, the KAL714C up to four, conventional fire detector zones to the addressable fire system loop. Up to 20 conventional detectors or up to 32 conventional manual call points may be connected to every zone. These units allow differentiation of call point alarms from detector alarms for mixed zone applications. The KAL714C provides power to the fire detector zone(s) from an external 24 VDC source, and digitally communicate the status of every zone to the fire panel. The KAL710 is configurable for either loop or external power. A LED on every module indicates the alarm and communication status of the module locally.
Installation
-The KAL700 Series is designed for surface mount installation. Addressing on the modules is done via easy to use DIP switches.
Applications
-The KAL710/KAL714C zone monitoring units are normally used in situations where an area to be covered does not require any sub-devisions or does not require a particular fire point recognition. It may also be used for retro fit installations where conventional systems are replaced by an addressable system during a phased upgrade i.e. where not all conventional detectors are replaced immediately by addessable devices. Existing conventional devices may in these cases still be used with the new addressable system. The KAL710/KAL714C is designed to be used with GE Security conventional detectors, but may also be used as an interface to connect with other compatible, industry standard, conventional detectors.
